Demonstrations and studio practice in advanced techniques of architectural rendering, ranging from conceptual drawing to presentation drawings of buildings in their contexts. Different media will be used, and compared for their potential to communicate ideas at various stages in the design process.

On completion of the subject students should be able to:

• Understand the basic laws of perspective and apply these readily in freehand drawing

• Produce finished architectural renderings in colour suitable for presentations to others

• Understand the geometry of casting shadows and to use this skill to show form in architecural rendering

• Appreciate the importance of light as an active element in architecture through the rendering of forms in light, shade and shadow

• Use different drawing projection systems including isometric and axonometric projections

• Draw simple entourage (mainly people, vegetation and cars) to give a sense of scale and context in rendering

• Use color appropriately in rendering

• Use skills in graphic composition

• Handle techniques for different manual graphic media including graphite and coloured pencil, marker pens and watercolour

• Identify the essential visual characteristics of buildings and the spaces around them before attempting to communicate these graphically

a concept i have yet to grasp..

but i do understand what 'house' means. four walls and a roof over your head. the physical aspects.

but h o m e ..

it rings like an echo in the empty space in my skull i shall label my mind..

having read literature, watched film, discussed themes, and listened to others description of home.. this is the common points of what society *cough* the rare 200 odd people i've encountered have said _

. somewhere ya return to at the end of the day
. some place to rest
. some place to be yourself
. dysfunctional environment where somehow with mutually agreement one gets along with the other members
. an environment that isn't necessarily pleasant but you reside there
. place where you can walk around naked
. family members live there..and with the effort of a few steps upstairs you can invade their private space/room to annoy
. place where you feel comfortable
. parents cook your meals
. place you can mess up
. violence
. a source of childhood, evoking many memories
. a place you become used to but somehow ultimately don't take for granted
. interrupted sleep
.upbringing
. growth

but to me.. it was never an origin. never a source of anything.. and i am yet to return to this "home"

im interested in finding out what it is.. but im not seeking...so it doesnt bother me too much.and it doesnt consume me.

guess the closest association i have to the word would be at my friend's place. the way the sun streams into the glass doors and hits the corner of the sectioned wall lighting up the cream colored carpet .place temporarily lacking conflict. small n. quiet.
my description doesnt make sense. because the idea doesnt make sense. oh wells.

Which factors shape our experience of a gameworld and how do our expressions of these experiences, the stories we tell about them, reciprocally affect the living culture of this world? I have elsewhere argued that we need to begin to analyze particular and salient elements of gameworld experiences in order to better comprehend the relation between design choices, a specific gameworld culture, and the player’s world experience (Klastrup 2003). If we want to understand a world like World of Warcraft in all its complexity, ‘‘death’’ is important as a pivotal design element and something that every player experiences several, if not many times during her time in a gameworld. In World of Warcraft (and many similar worlds), player characters do not disappear permanently when they die—they are resurrected shortly after death. Even though ‘‘death’’ is thus not a singular experience, nevertheless the reasons for dying and the accompanying penalty that, as part of the game mechanics, follows when a character dies, are generally the subject of heated discussions and many player stories—indicating that death is a feature which engages players. In this article, I seek to explore what the stories told about death
and dying tell us about what behaviors and experiences in general matter to players in the world of World of Warcraft.1 This is one approach to furthering the understanding of what makes World of Warcraft so unique and appealing a (game) world experience.
