i don't really understand what it means to be a "college town" but from what i gather, the places is populated by students (35,000) and all the stores are mainly targeting students.
We buy our readers OFF CAMPUS! how odd, and there are many copy stores in the area which could take 10mins a walk to buy a reader for one subject. annoying.

the above picture is not of a university store, but rather a clothing store down the road opposite campus. THERE IS SOO MUCH MERCHANDISE!!! its not funny. EVERYONE SELLS CAL GEAR. even the local pharmacy sells berkeley clothes. weird!

i officially dropped documentary class which was tough decision, but laziness overtook me and my comfort space for the familiar eventually decided that its not a bad idea to stick to film 101 (despite having studied it four years ago).

Documentary did look extremely promising and the tutor was soo incredibly nice.. it was almost impossible to give up. but oh wells. *sigh* maybe i should be more productive and start hunting down a neuroscience lab, since I'm not going to make it big in Hollywood.

first frat + dorm PARTAAAY!!

well.. after wondering around and not being able to find the christian bbq party in unit 3, i met up with Herman, Justin and Joseph at a Christian Frat Party get-together.

wow. they get free laundry, printing and all this neat stuff for 2.8k.. geez.. Ihouse is triple the costs and we don't get those benefits. The guys were really nice. We got a house tour of all three floors, ya THREE FLOORS!! I'm impressed as to how many rooms they can squish into a house. And we got to see the DUCK! Hahaha... Andrew has a random pet duck. It was a tad weird being the only girl but it was nice to know there is a Christ-centred-fraternity with fun gatherings and have a blast without alcohol =P

alalalla... next stop.. some really far away walk to get alcohol apparently. Well, not me, I got Häagen-Dazs® icecream ^^ oh which some people where jealous of, of course =P but anyways, for some reason drinks in the US are cheap. 2L of smirnoff for $25... or something like that. I wasn't paying attention but was too busy deciding icecream flavours.

the next thing you know,, you walk into a corridor full of people with music cranking and party-ing it UP. well... we knew the party was on the fourth floor, so a few non-drinkers decided to check it out before we fall asleep LOL.. our nose lead the way. Dang, didn't realise beer leaves such a strong smell.

sigh. how to these people keep it up. i seriously want to sleep my bags away.. they are horrible =.=""

two classes. Anime class watched Fooly Cooly. ZOMG! i can't believe it. so that's the name of the anime we watched in year 10 Richie VCD class. =.=" I really didn't like it. It makes no sense.
But I guess its an excellent example of what anime may be, pushing boundaries classical cinema can never achieve.

did my first round of washing lewl.

i just came back from my retreat which was at Walter Creek Ranch, where it was approx 40 exchange kids with team building exercises and informing us what International House (IHouse) is all about and its missions of culture celebrations, leadership etc etc.

american's had a campfire too. and ate " 'smores".. this means "some more" but really quickly. its marshmellow roasted, then snap a plain cracker in half and you place a small block of chocolate on one side of the cracker and put the hot mashmellow on top so the chocolate melts. So it's a choc -marshmellow- cracker sandwhich.

ZOMG . how do they eat that stuff SOO SUGARY! everyone was on a HIGH!

it was dark and they gave up glowstick necklaces before this campire that wrap around our heads,.
so since everyone was high on sugar and running around, it looked quite hilarious.

i saw a racoon! and my golly gosh THEY ARE FAT!! when it kinda stood up it seriously looked
like totoro that japanese animation fat blob thingy lol.

we played Guessures too! (it was a non-alcoholic camp =P)

I FINALLY MET MY ROOMMATE, she is local and i bumped into her at the door. XD


ps. there are MANY koreans at Berkeley and their names are so hard to pronounce XD

i'm going on a san francisco day trip tomorrow so that should be interesting. =]

Golden Bears vs Washington

Attended my first basketball game yesterday and woahh.. even though it's mid season there were tonnes of people. The massive stadium being 80% full.

far out people of all ages, 7 - 50years old i would say.

"California Golden Bears to an 88-81 overtime victory over the Washington State"

the match was EPIC! Cal was leading by almost half (28 - 11 at one stage) dominating but then Washington State caught up and didn't leave without a fight. OVERTIME!

the people were really tall and we did see a few dunks and hoops swings.

people really got into it, standing up and shouting and cheering. But what was more surprising was the amount of "BOOOOOing" when the other team scored. Strange.

can't imagine what the Berkeley vs Stanford game would be like. Apparently we have a rivalry with them. *shrugs* the staff at orientation didn't like Stanford either.

I've heard its been raining heaps in melbourne since I left. Mike Wong tested the gmail phone call system thingy yesterday and it worked! woot, free calls.

oh i set up a berkeley email today and i attended a reaaaaaly long orientation, it feels so weird to be called an "international" student, because i just think of asian fobs. There were definitely a lot of Asians today thoughat the orientation.

funny thing was i slept in for orientation because of the late phone call with mike and ZOMG 40mins late to orientation GAAH! my EYES couldn't even open, so I didnt brush my teeth and ran downstairs and phewwwww they officially start at 9am, and sign ups were at 8am. But yerrr..that was bad XD. And I looked so crap and unenthusiastic for their "Go Bears!" pep talk.

they associate being a UC Berkeley student as being a Bear. They have Bear everything,
so now I'm a student I'm also technically a bear. weird.

i personally think their mascot is creepy.

but they had this icebreaker where you need to get peoples emails for certain catergories
like: shares a same hobby, comes from north america, studies something you think is interesting etc etc and I WON!! bwhahahaaha. out of all the 15 tables of international students i won ..lol...
i got a laundry bag as a prize, so yay i dont have to buy one and now i can do my laundry ^^

and and aND, i took an option of a berkeley hike up its massive hill and ZOMG up there you can see the view into san fran and the golden gate bridge and all of the bay area. so neat.. but sun in eyes @_@ I saw two deers on campus!! and lots of squirrels too.

got my id card a day back and best thing is that it can act like a debit card for surrounding shops, FREE PUBLIC BUS TRANSPORT! how awesome is that. the bus can take you to san Francisco too. and gets you into the gym for the whole semester for $10. hmm..i could work out a lot hahaaha.

international people have interesting names like Pontus, Jet pronounced Yet from Netherlands, Farbian (Italy) etc etc.

oh and i don't talk to hobos on the road (for mum's peace of mind). There are many homeless people around campus and we have been told they go into classrooms to sleep ><"

well dinner last night was at Smart Alex's which is some fast food joint that serves massive servings ..geez.. i seriously cant finish meals in America XD. how do they eat all that. I ate with 9 other people I'd just met, of which 8 were guys hahhahaa. that do engineering. engineering and the name martin seem popular here. Met Lucas from Maccau who is also into alternative films and has seen ONCE~! Akito is from Japan and knows the places since he's been here for a semester already.

its weird. they kept staring at me during dinner. no one also understood when i made the comment to the guy on the left "Wow you devoured your dinner, so quick!" they were just blanked faced and made me repeat myself four times Y_Y "de-voouu-red" meaning eat really quickly? dang . okay i think i will lay low on the slang for now XD

OhOHOH! and the guy who's name i forgot of which i sat next to at dinner got an INTERNSHIP WITH FACEBOOK! or at facebook however ya say it. wow. cool. computer science major.

bumped into elaine today (happenstance ftw) and she drove me around town to something ghetto? i dunno. and had awesome pizza. gave me a mini tour of the uni and it turns out all my classes are literally in the SAME room. weird. never realised. 10am-9pm in the SAME ROOM. lol. there are two main libraries which are connected buildings via an underground passage.

wandered up a bell tower and i dunno if i want to take that bell class anymore. the bells look incredibly difficult to play. but from the top you can see the Golden gate bridge, Alcatraz however ya spell it, the Bay, the hill you were talking about Andy of which would be a ridiculous hike just to the obervatory and more etc etc.

i asked someone for directions and they immediately responded with "Are you from Australia?"
0______0 they recognised my accent straight away. creepy, turns out he is from australia too.

OH OH OH AND! I SCORED MY FIRST GOAL IN FIFA SOCCER today. yay!

sick on the inside. gahh. this irritating frustration of i don't know what it is or how to describe it. mental and spiritual factors deciding to pour out its failings in a physical form.

compounded that i'm sick of this corrupt world, world mainly being the people in it. of which i'm included..

the day starts out incredibly awkward as my inappropriateness gets me in a mess yet again..
sitting down to get daily feeds to discover a friend that is to be a father and i have no idea how to support them..
realising it's not birthday parties we shall look forward to as a means of a mass high school friend get-together, but rather weddings!
receiving a call from a 40+ year old male friend who I haven't seen since he last got cancer, whom sounds incredibly broken, lost and very ill, of which i still dunno what to do.
how can i attempt to care for others when my mind is unravelling.


my insides are goina to go all phoenix Jean Grey crazy explosion if i don't get a hold of things soon.

speaking of xmen ..the past 3 days have been a re-watch of Wolverine and the Xmen and my goodness. .it's still extremely impressive. Can't wait til the last episode lol..

hmm.. i was either running out from the toilet and onto the street to catch the fireworks seen from a park in Hawthorn East.... or according to the time on my mobile phone it was 11.59PM when i reached the park and the fireworks started early >.>

hmm. either way. it as a good view from the park outside james' house. standing right....here.could see both the city and st. kilda fireworks.. or whatever the other suburb was at the other end of my field of view.

1 hour earlier...
watched a bunch of friends from church play one crazy game of monopoly...insane over the table deals, alliances, huge losses, screaming and shouting..

played 'psychiatrist' for the first time. strange game, where everyone sits in a circle and agrees on an "illness", then bring in one or two people that didn't hear this agreed upon illness to sit in the middle of the circle and ask questions until they get it. quite hard.
our illness was "two people to our left". We were only allowed to answer yes /no questions..but answering them truthfully for two people to our left. hilarious.

2 hours earlier...
watching gossip girl. dang..that show is despicably attention seeking..
sister started watching it and i walk past every now and then..
