oh my ...0_0

this a really challenging read, not in terms of the words but it resides in the content. And again, its nothing to do with the author of the article...

Missing the Point: Breivik, Christianity and Videogames

a little disappointed.

2. Sony’s Smurfs grossed an estimated $13.3 million, while DreamWorks and Universal’s Cowboys grossed a $13 million after appealing mostly to older moviegoers. Smurfs beat Cowboys vs Aliens this box office weekend *sob* ARE YOU KIDDING ME!

smurf got a really crappy review too *link*
....criticized by many for its lack of story and overuse of the same jokes, but many critics did say it would probably be enjoyable for children.
bottom line: This numbingly generic Smurf-out-of-water-tale is strictly for those who stand closer to three apples tall. 0_0

funny comments on that note *link*

3. sushi girl is a "grindhouse" style movie described as a dinner over a naked girl that ends badly. my goodness -.=""" *hangs head in shame*

wrap up.

another week has gone by and zomg! first week uni was quite the insane crazy filled epic-ness.
But in hindsight, I guess an outsider would consider it boring/unexciting, considering I did tune out in almost all my lectures.

What struck me most, was that not one day went by without the topic of Jesus coming up, and thus naturally Christianity. It wasn't like I was looking and forcing his name to be dropped in conversation, but I was directly asked. I have to admit it was a rather strange yet pleasant experience. I'm not sure why, but every time I feel as if I'm place on the spot light again and that I must be super careful of the words i choose and the way its delivered or I'll be an embarrassment and failure, having either misinterpreted the question or stumbled to give an adequate response.

1 Peter 3:15 comes to mind constantly, "... Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have...". But its okay to screw up and it's most likely that you will, however, "for we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do" Ephesians 2:10. He knew exactly what we are going to do but despite all this still sent Christ!

So it was a challenge, and being my final semester, there is no need to be shy and make the most of it. Since i'm taking majority first year subjects, it's like im in primary school, were all the tutors make us play icebreakers and do that introduce your partner thing. When introducing oneself to the class or being interviewed by peers to be introduced to the class, this question asked was "what is your beliefs". So classes started like "Hi, this is Sandra and she is Christian"
Verryy...different from four years ago, "Hi this is sandra and she likes movies" >.> lol.

Oddly enough, my peers actually expect more from me, and look up to me. something is ssooo sooooo soooo incredibly foreign. I will definitely need their help way more when it comes down to optics and physics =.=""

aside from my ever increasing fascination with God's love displayed in Christ, I managed to catch up with GIRLS! yes FEMALES! and friends from uni!!! making such a conscious effort to do so =P

Open house Melbourne was really neat, despite me not being able to go to the only building i wanted to visit Y_Y also stupid me brought a camera, but no SD card =.= soo my photos were incredible limited. .. bleeeh

hope ya like this _
first stop intercontinental hotel, smack bang next to the Rialto,
this used to be a laneway, where horses drew in goods, but now converted atrium/restaurant.
the right is of Venetian style, the left English/london style.
very very impressive
good friend Ly, that drove me into the city.
i dislike your low angle snaps of me!! grrr

Glad to see you Yoyo!
The second stop was the Origin Energy's rooftop.
it was unepic, and had a lot of plastic grass, so i took no photos.
St. Paul's cathedral
...was the last stop before Ly dashed to work
meet up with church friends at level 6 Myer building.
Mural Hall. It was so woah. 1930s murals on the wall and i had no idea this thing existed~!
bumped into an old sunday school teacher outside this .
so random and unexpected.
pixel building, which i thought was a part of RMIT but isn't
the building is self sufficient and uses all this recycle energy thingy.
can't tell you anymore, as this was the only building i wanted to see, but they weren't taking
any more people in for the day. boooo =P
its still in construction, so it will make it harder for me to ninja my way in during the week.
*cough* a habit of mine, during long extensive uni breaks. instead of studying, i wonder the city and walk myself into random buildings until i get kicked out, which hasn't happened to me yet =P

made it to the 60L green building instead. very interesting.
biggest tour group here too.
meet amy. she organised this =]
coming back to glenny to dine, saw a really lovely rainbow!!!
my interests in optics traces back to grade 1 or 2? when i took the school bus home
and saw a really pretty rainbow outside the droplet covered murky windows =P
GLENWAVERLEY IS SO THE PLACE TO BE!
instead of noble park -.-"

dinner with kauface, andrew, tracy, frank, jason and barton.
topic of conversations ranges from barton's shiny forehead to perfect eyebrows, to frank swimming across the ocean with all our money to hobos, hipsters, mainstream, dumpters
harry pothead, london, ramen, fangirls.

hmm..they sound like lyrics
lol, can never get bored with you guys =P

a week of incredible growth where i'm somewhere between these two images.

with a loooooooooooooooong sigh....... i have to let go of digital mediascapes

a really easy subject, chillax and taught by the YOUNGEST LECTURER IVE EVER ENCOUNTED!!! 0______0
a PhD student who literally looks 26, working on a paper towards video games and the space within them. makes me wanna be a lecturer XD
so tech savy and in our modern digital age, he uses an iPad to give the lecture. im not a fan of that apple product .... made it easier to drop the subject LOL

so...i know i will regret it if i don't go to band this semester. so CHUN HIN HERE I COME!! wooo00000T! this year might be the last BAND CAMP i go on!! *sob* nostalgia.

subject picked up instead - tv and popular culture. hmmm.. watched
I Love Lucy for the first time

and Hancock. so old school

Dropped by the tutorial and we were asked our favourite tv show. I naturally mentioned cartoons/animations.. of which later the lecturer threw the question to the class, is animation really a genre? should it be studied as part of tv or on its own? i was so offended/taken aback. heck yer it is =P lol. tis all good.

shall leave you all with this....

38 slides of hieroglyphics to me, optics to Larry Abel to sift through by tomorrow Y_Y
first year can't be that hard can it ?><"

Larry Abel, such a hardcore lecturer .....having completed his 3rd year vision science lectures....@_@

had to call sister to ask where my tutorial was being held lol.... epic fail first day.....

apart from that first year environments tutorial made me feel like i was in primary school, worst kindergarten. Berkeley where are you Y_Y

wrap up the final semester begins...

zomg uni *stabs eyes* (but enough about that)

anywho.. the weekend was ace. didn't think life could get better having been on an indescribable fantastical Berkeley exchange, but it just did.

Blasting it off with a biblical study on romans 8 at youth group and seeing yan pop along is such an encouragement. seeing him again on sunday, i couldn't hold my excitement in, i was really exploding on the inside. =P

surviving on 2 hours sleep after an incredibly deeeep conversation that lasted longer than a plane right to Hong Kong, it was catch up with glenny mates for lunch and movie. Kung Fu panda is surprisingly really good.
4 stars from me.http://pics.livejournal.com/cha_maeri/pic/0024geap/s640x480

animation 10/10 , had varied styles that increased not only enjoyment but effective in terms of storytelling. opening sequence puppet-like 2D art was visually stunning
plot 7/10 a lot of depth for a kid film, identity, love, betrayal, death
action 10/10 pleeeenty of it

what made it for me, was the witty dialogue and the animation of water and facial expressions. nice work dreamworks.

the remainder of the day resulted in bummage outside coles til my bro finished work. ahh.. the converstations we share. no one knows me better than that guy =P

finally gave chun his nose flute. it actually works!! and delivers more than a single note. hahaaha

totally random, but jeewee's dad was waving at me for a quite a while across the road before i noticed, so i awkwardly ran across and said hi, his arms outstretched and having been around humans for long enough, it was an invitation to a hug. my brain was spazing out. but i followed through and surprisingly it wasn't awkward at all. ive never hugged a friend's parents before, let alone going 1meter near my own. the ong's are a friendly bunch of folks lol.

sunday involved visiting Melbourne Chinese Bible Church with Dietrich which was quite fun. West Side of town! haaha. warm people and very welcoming

on the side_
i am really dying a little not being at comic con and reading all the news about it. gah gah gah. tomas you share my pain lol.

and on the incredibly up side
COWBOY Vs ALIENS GOT A GOOD REVIEW!! IM SO EXCITED!.

The bottom line: It sounds kooky on paper but on the screen cowboys and aliens make beautiful, fun music together. This comic book movie from Jon Favreau spends a gratifying amoutn of time on its characters and actors rather than visual FX.

ZOMG SO SAD i have to return to lame ass uni here, for semester 2, of which 3 our of 4, if not all of my subjects i'm 100% not interested in. but i have to take to meet credit requirements fit the degree structure...

There should be a over riding rule in Melbourne, that if you are in your final semester and have completed FOUR majors you may be exempt from being stuck paying for taking first year subjects ..

i am SO annoyed.

yay to taking soil samples this semester and group work with 50% of the class that flunked the subject in semester one Y_Y

must make the most of it.

maybe im with people that are interested in the subject and that rubs off onto me. hmm. i better be able to identify soil by the end of this semester lol. a skill to chuck on the CV *cough*

at least my monday is looking really free, so i get to pop along to $6 movie days at NOVA.
should get back in touch with SYN FM for my film reviews .

say WHO WANTS TO HAVE A RADIO SHOW WITH ME?!!!?
would be ace face =P

and it doesn't matter if you are from the other side of the world. cause i can call anywhere in the studio bwhahahaha and record . i love radio.

CONGRADULATIONS ohlallaa BABY BOY

to the former jenny kong

now mrs lu

now mother!!!

ZOMG im too LATE!! leaked footage. lol

'The Avengers': Footage Leaks Online (Spoilers)

It's not being called a trailer for the superhero pic....but it certainly looks and feels like one.

It's not being called a trailer for The Avengers....but it certainly looks and feels like one.

Bootlegged footage of next summer's big Marvel tentpole began popping up online Monday. The poorly-camcorded recording features Steve Rogers/Captain America (Chris Evans) beating up a punching bag and then being approached by Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson). The two exchange some dialogue about saving the world, which leads into a series of shots featuring quick cuts of Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Jeremy Renner (as Hawkeye shooting a arrow! Followed by explosions!), Scarlett Johansson, a flying Iron Man, then heroes assembled in a conference room (yes that is Chris Hemsworth as Thor). Fury then says "Gentlemen, you're up," a logo for The Avengers appears, then another scene, and finally "May 2012."

Punctuated by a movie crowd going wild.

Sources tell us the footage will run after the credits of Captain America, which opens Friday. Marvel has practically patented these "buttons" that appear at the end of their movies as teasers for the next film. The recent series that began with Iron Man will culminate with The Avengers next summer.

This, however, was more than just one scene. Clearly it was a curtain-raiser for the movie itself.

(Heat Vision is not posting the video it but you can find it here.)

I LOVE TAMAS WELLS!!!

He has a new album out

*buys CD* ^^ but you can listen to it all free online =]
Thirty People Away Cover Art
http://tamaswells.bandcamp.com/

This is a story of places

After recording his debut album ‘A Mark on the Pane’ (2004)- which received glowing reviews and reached number 16 on Australia’s AIR charts- Melbourne artist Tamas Wells moved to the city of Yangon in Burma/Myanmar.

He continued to write and record and in 2006 the folk song ‘Valder Fields’ - from his second album ‘A Plea en Vendredi’ (2006) - suddenly became an internet hit, being downloaded over a million times and finding its way into mp3 players all over the world.
Sell out tours in Japan, China, Hong Kong, and Australia followed and after signing to renowned independent labels in Japan (Lirico), Australia (Popboomerang), Korea (Leaplay)and China (Pocket), the album ‘A Plea en Vendredi’ reached number 16 in HMV Shibuya’s international charts in Tokyo.

A year later in a small Burmese apartment block during the monsoon of 2007, when Wells took a couple of microphones, a laptop, a local traditional banjo and a guitar and recorded the songs for his third album ‘Two Years in April’. Despite (or perhaps because of) its Burmese home recorded qualities; the album (2008) sold thousands of copies, was widely praised by the music press and Wells toured internationally to sold out venues and festivals in Japan, China, Singapore and Australia.

This story of the new album ‘Thirty People Away’ ends in a community hall on Mount Wellington near Hobart in mid 2010, where Tamas Wells recorded his long awaited new album, ‘Thirty People Away’ (2011).
Written in Myanmar, recorded in Australia and then mixed by renowned Australian producer and previous collaborator Tim Whitten, the new album combines Wells’ ‘beautifully broken’ sense of melody with guitars, strings, organs and piano.

The delicate new single ‘The Crime at Edmond Lake’ –released in late 2010- was downloaded over fifty thousand times in the month after its release.
The new album ‘Thirty People Away’ will be released internationally in 2011.

woah grace lets totally audition =]

CHICAGO - The Musical - Auditions

Williamstown Musical Theatre Company Inc is proud to announce auditions for their November 2011 production of CHICAGO – The Musical, which will be performed at the Williamstown Mechanics Institute from Friday 4th November to Saturday 19th November 2011.

We are searching for a very talented and skilled cast of men and women, roughly 20 in total, who are interested in ‘creating’ theatre and working and collaborating together with our experienced and skilled production team, to make an original production, with original thinking and ideas in mind.

This will be a highly collaborative experience with all cast on-stage for nearly 100% of the entire performance. Rehearsal attendance will be vital. We will not be looking at casting any auditionees, regardless of talent, who cannot make themselves available as required.

Premiering in 1975 and the hit of the 1997 Broadway season in a production that originated at City Center's Encore! series, Chicago won six Tony Awards including Best Revival and later the Academy Award as Best Picture of the Year.

In roaring twenties Chicago, chorine Roxie Hart murders a faithless lover and convinces her hapless husband Amos to take the rap, until he finds out he's been duped and turns on Roxie. Convicted and sent to death row, Roxie and another ‘Merry Murderess’ Velma Kelly, vie for the spotlight and the headlines, ultimately joining forces in search of the ‘American Dream’ - fame, fortune and acquittal. This sharp edged satire features a dazzling score that sparked immortal staging by Bob Fosse.

Further information on audtion dates and character descriptions are avaliable at WMTC's website. http://www.wmtc.org.au/

"When the 154-minute Transformers: Dark of the Moon finally ends, your feeling is one of exhaustion, not exhilaration.... The bottom line..Michael Bay delivers a techno spectacle that is spectacularly empty" - Kirk Honeycutt

Drew Barrymore is attached to produce with an eye to direct Heist Society, a young adult thriller being made by Warner Bros.

Joining an elite group of movies, Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides will jump the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office sometime this weekend. The film will become only the eight in history to reach the %1 billion mark. (don't ask me what the other seven are =P i don't know)

Box Office Shocker: 'Bridesmaids' Passing 'Knocked Up' as Judd Apatow's Higest Grossing Movie (he's the producer btw)...Apatow directed and produced Knocked Up and produced Talladega Nights. Both were bigger hits overseas, with Knocked Up still serving as Apatow's top worldwide grosser at $219 million. Bridesmaids has made $21 million internationally but is still rolling out in many territories, where it is off to a phenomenal start.

A law firm in Michigan has sued Lady Gaga, alleging the music star kept some of the proceeds from the "We Pray For Japan" bracelets that she has been selling to her fans to raise money for the earthquake recovery effort in Japan, according to Business Insider. http://www.businessinsider.com/lady-gaga-sued-over-japan-relief-bracelet...

and shall leave you with the report on 2011 10 biggest flops to have gone on screen thus far...
(based on how much they cost to produce and how much profit they ended up getting)

1. Mars Needs Moms
.... to be honest i think the images state it all. + the fact it sunk way deep into the Uncanny Valley AND seriously Disney what were you thinking.. targeting mums and their kids for movies ..fair.. BUT!
you are targeting young boys.. why in the world would they go to a movie with a title with "mom" it in. ...*sigh* they needed to rethink their marketing strategy.

2. Your Highness
Your Highness
hmm i haven't heard of this one. raunchy comedy, set in medieval times apparently.
Costing $50 million to produce, the film cumed $21.6 million domestically and a paltry $3 million overseas

3.
no comment.

4. Prom
lucky for them it only cost 8million to produce. cutting even.

5. Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer
popular kids book, but didn't to so well in box office. couldn't follow the lead of Diary of a Whimpy kid i guess.

6.

lol bwhahaha
at least $200 million to produce, topped roughly $250 million world wide, but it was heavily bashed by critics

7.

8.

9.
i personally haven't seen this one. but i really liked the first one. maybe they changed writers..
The Beaver Movie10. and lastly. this one.
There was heat around Jodie Foster’s high-profile movie for months, but it quickly disappeared at the domestic box office, grossing less than $1 million. Many saw it as a referendum on Mel Gibson, who stars in the film opposite Foster, who also directed. The specialty pic cost $20 million to produce.
