Did God have a wife? - is the title of a melbourne uni lecture series under
Achaeology and Folk Religion in ancient Israel

Hosted by the School of Historical and Philosophical Studies and the Centre Classical Association of Victoria.

The Hebrew Bible portrays the religion of ancient Israel as monotheistic, the worship of a single male deity named Yahweh. Yet the archaeological data recently accumulated shows that this may have been the ideal, but the reality was quite different. We have hundreds of nude female figurines that represent the old Canaanite Mother Goddess 'Asherah'. We even have 8th century BCE Hebrew inscriptions naming her as the consort of Yahweh in the context of blessing. This illustrated lecture will show how monotheism developed slowly and with great difficulty in ancient Israel.

William G. Dever specialises in the history of Israel and the Near East in Biblical times and has written many books on the subject. He was Professor of Near Eastern Archaeology and Anthropology at the University of Arizona in Tucson from 1975 to 2002 and has directed or co-directed excavations at Gezer, Khirbet el-Kôm and Jebel Qacaqir in Israel, Tell el-Hayyat in Jordan and Idalion in Cyprus. Professor Dever is in Australia as a guest of the Australian Institute of Archaeology to present the 2012 Petrie Oration.

When:Wednesday, 18 March 2012 6.30pm
Where:Theatre A Elisabeth Murdoch Building, The University of Melbourne,Parkville

Registration opens on Thursday, 23 March and closes on Wednesday, 18 April 2012.

SATURDAY YAAAAAAY!!!

STAGE FRIGHT!!! post a lot about this but here is the website if you wanted to read up on it *link*

In short, an arts fundraiser supporting Able Australia (working with disabilities) and platform for emerging young artists/dancers/musicians aka talent , organised by Thai Nguyen who happened to be an old tuition buddy of mine.

was a scorching 38 degree something day. and BOy WAS IT HOOOT~!! *melts*
Train-ing it in with FungFace, VMa and Will TJ. what an interesting bunch ol peoples.

the day ended up being a glenny reunion for myself, and catching up with friends I had not seen in a while from high year levels. interesting where people are heading these days in terms of life direction. Most of my 25-27 year old friends are "on a break" from their career they commenced in to either_
a) be convicted of doing something else and champion that cause or
b) on holiday having returned from an overseas trip e.g. europe, japan

funny thing. this generation of ours, if we don't like it, we quit, first to step out of the door pursue other interests. because?? well simple because we can .

but if you look at our parents, they probably only had 2 careers, and four jobs within those industries, and our grandparents - 1 career which they got stuck in.

according to the lecture i sat in today, we (yer, you that is reading this space) have an average of 7 careers in our lifetime. that's ..quite a lot 0_____0

anyway enough rambling.. pictures~!

raffle prizes
artists selling fantastical work
and this was what i was doing 12 hours later.... zonked out with friends upon jeewee's return after a yet again disappointing La Porchetta meal in glenny, to find ourselves playing human limbo, throwing grapes at each other and exercising our imagination in Pictureka!

what a day...........

The HP Folio ad on tv

wow. that ad is so witty.

i don't have a video of it. but this is the scene
camera pans across lots of business persons at an airport, plugged into technology - laptop, phones, ear plugs
Travel Attendant announces over the PA something along the lines of "what are you doing, look at your selfs, all plugged in" blah blah blah get up get out, what has society turned into kinda gist.

starts out mocking people

you begin to agree,

then punch line.

you don't need to be plugged in, with the new HP, as it has incredibly battery life

lewl. i chuckled. or is it just me and how i analyse pretty much everything ><"

Steven Moffat - pure genius !

Having first discovered my love for this Scottish writer through the crude British comedy Coupling.
I have not turned back from his works.

clever, quirky, quick and plot weaving master
are a few words to describe his style

a contemporary Dickens of the film world.
well. actually i cant really make that claim since i never read any dickens but you get the point. =P

The modern retelling of Jekyll and Hyde
had me on the edge of my seat the entire series

"Sherlock"
Now the script in this is impecable (if that is the appropriate word to use)
I could only second /third guess so far ahead of Sherlock
plot - winner for me
character - sherlock is super uber annoying. dislike that part. But Mr. Benedict Cumberbatch does a stunning performance of an annoying know-it-all devoid of human feelings lewl.

"Doctor Who"

Won BAFTA TV Award - Best Writer, Best Screenwriter, Best Dramatic Presentation
and Writer's Guild of Great Britain Award all for Doctor Who alone haha.

"Coupling"

soo soo funny =P

on a completely different note_
zomg my south american friend is living out part of my dream
a research study on augmented reality ^^
